It all started with this.....

It all started with an antique quilt given to me by my Uncle Cliff in 1985. It was made by my Great Grandmother using original fabrics spanning from the 1860's to the 1930's, in a string quilt pattern. All strings were hand pieced. All fabrics were loved. I can imagine Grandpa's shirts, or Grandma's housedress or apron. And now I'm the fortunate steward of this wonderful bit of family history........all made by hand.

RETREAT, RETREAT, RETREAT!!!!

Where has April gone already?!? It seems it was just March, and then I look forward to retreat, then wham, it's done. I unpack, and feel the post retreat blues, missing the friends, laughter and pampering.....and OMG the food! Oh.....the glorious food.

So ten of us made our way into the woods to stay at "the gate", for our annual spring respite. We quilt, or knit, or cross stitch, or nap, or read......and eat. No interruptions, no phone calls, no meals to make or laundry to do.....just rekindling friendships and catching up since the last time. Laughing, eat wholesome farm to table dishes, drinking wine and chocolate. Life is good.

Saturday evening we do 'show and tell', plus a few games to win some 'spending money'. This year everyone brought a vintage or antique sewing item. From someone's first tiny sewing machine to 'bone buttons' dating to the civil war, we had a lot to share.

Spring 2015 welcomed Ann, Shirley, Marilyn, Denice, Jan, Sally, Janet, Lisa, Vicky and of course me. In no particular order..........
